Mark adopted the artist name Pynner at the age of seventeen when he began selling cassettes of his music to his peers at school. The tapes contained a psychedelic mixture of drums and a toy keyboard played through borrowed guitar pedals, all recorded on an analogue four-track Portastudio. As a teen he studied drums and guitar, then at the age of twenty he earned a diploma for Audio Engineering.
